Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanic to assist in the installation of a new food manufacturing line, including conveyors, processing equipment, and packaging machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, particularly in industrial or food-grade equipment, and will be responsible for mechanical assembly, alignment, and startup support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assemble, install, and align conveyor systems and other food production equipment in accordance with layout plans, blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
• Ensure precise installation of equipment including motors, gearboxes, belts, rollers, bearings, and guides.
• Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and other skilled trades during installation projects.
• Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, hoists, and measuring instruments to complete mechanical installations.
• Modify or fabricate parts as necessary to ensure proper fit and function.
• Follow and enforce safety protocols and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
• Assist with equipment testing, adjustments, and operational startup.
• Identify potential mechanical or alignment issues and troubleshoot during installation.
• Document work performed and update maintenance records as required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area throughout the installation process.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical installation, preferably in a food manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and installation procedures.
• Experience installing conveyor systems, gear drives, pneumatic components, and stainless-steel food-grade equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Proficient with welding (TIG/MIG preferred), rigging, and alignment techniques.
• Must be physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Forklift and scissor lift certification is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 – $29.00 per hour.
