Job Description: Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A & Operations Finance
Position Summary:
We are seeking a high-performing Senior Financial Analyst to play a key role in strengthening both the accounting and financial planning capabilities of the organization as we enter our next phase of growth.
As a private equity backed company, we are operating with increasing expectations around financial visibility, speed, and decision support. This role will be critical in elevating the finance function by owning key aspects of the monthly close, supporting ERP implementation, and driving improved financial
insight across the business.
In addition to core accounting responsibilities, this role will have meaningful exposure to FP&A, including pricing, margin management, and operational performance analysis. The ideal candidate will
be equally comfortable operating within the close process and partnering with the business to support
decision-making.
This is a high impact role designed for someone who can operate with ownership, improve processes,
and help build a more scalable and analytically driven finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Operations Finance
• Own key components of the monthly close process, including:
• Journal entries
• Account reconciliations
• Variance analysis
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results
• Identify and resolve issues proactively to prevent close delays
• Serve as cross trained team member able to provide back up to Inventory related functions, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
• Support implementation and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in reviewing and updating SOP documentation to develop a robust library for training, consistency, and quality performance.
• Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting regulations to ensure the company remains compliant.
• Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations.
• Proficiency in navigating accounting software.
2. ERP & Process Improvement
• Act as a core finance resource on ERP implementation (Aptean F&B)
• Support transition from current systems and improve data integrity
• Identify opportunities to:y
• automate processes
• reduce manual work
• improve reporting accuracy
3. Financial Reporting Support
• Support preparation of internal management reporting
• Ensure consistency and integrity of financial data across reports
• Assist in building scalable reporting processes aligned with business growth
• Assist in financial statement and compliance audits
4. FP&A, Pricing & Margin Management
• Support pricing strategy and analysis across key customers and products
• Build and maintain cost models to evaluate product profitability
• Analyze gross margin performance, including drivers such as:
• material costs
• labor and overhead
• mix and pricing changes
• Partner with cross functional teams (sales, operations, leadership) to provide business decision support
• Assist in developing financial insights to improve profitability and operational efficiency
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
5. Cross-Functional Partnership
• Work closely with operations and other departments to:
• resolve discrepancies
• improve data flow
• strengthen financial visibility
Qualifications:
Required
• 5+ years of accounting/finance experience
• Experience in manufacturing environment
• Proven ability to work in fast paced, evolving, ambiguous environments
Preferred
• ERP implementation or system migration experience (Aptean/ Business Central/ Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus)
• Experience with inventory, cost accounting and pricing
• CPA or progress toward certification

Location / Structure:
• On site in Utica, NY preferred
• Open to remote candidates, with periodic on site collaboration as needed
